Imperia
Imperia Sited in favorable position, Imperia owes its name to the river Impero, that Oneglia separates from Porto Maurizio, once rival suburbs, today fused in only commune.
Porto Maurizio, castled to the promontory of the Parasio, economic and commercial center of relief already in the Middle Ages, it was, in the time, free commune.

Oneglia instead founded after Thousand, feud of the bishop of Albenga, subsequently sold to the Genoese family of the Dorias, yit was surrendered, in 1576, to the Savoias.
The rivalry among the two centers through the centuries it were expressed in turns on it commercial competition, in the feuds among the families, in the different administrative organization, correlated to the fidelity of Porto Maurizio to the Genoeses, of Oneglia to the Savoias.
The overcomimg of this rivalry goes up again to 1923 and finds testimony in the town building, built in equidistant place on the road that unites the two centers.
